The Review: A Topshop Trio

Being beauty obsessed, I like to try out as many different products as I can. I like to think that makeup professionals should stick to makeup and fashion professionals should stick to fashion. When I see clothing stores bringing out their own makeup line I am usually a little reluctant to purchase anything- Yes a little snobby side coming out to play here! However Topshop took my snobby assumptions and dissolved them into nothing but love for their makeup line. I took a wild gamble and purchased three lippies. Rumour Has It, Nevada and Brighton Rock...

All three lipsticks provide a good amount of moisture for the lips and leaves a velvetty shiny finish on the lips. They don't last all day, so as long as your happy to re apply on an hourly basis then there should be no problemos. They will set you back around £8 so it's not going to leave a massive gap in your purse, and on that note, they have a great packaging I really love the design on them and they are very purse friendly. Only thing about the packaging is that the design will rub off after a while making it look a little grubby. But hay were after the product afterall! Becuase of its forumlar, I would happily just wear this on its own without a lipgloss, but sometimes it is nice to add a little more oomph and pout with your favourite lippy over the top.

Rumour Has It is a chocolatey, expresso, coffee without milk kinda colour and would look great on darker skin colours. Match it with a neautral brown/gold smokey eye for a delicious day time look, or spruce it up for the evening with a sexy smokey eye for the evening. It would look great with a cat flick on the eyes, or even adding in a little blood red/wine colour to your smokey black shadow for a little something extra.

Nevada is a gorgeous nude that will look great on all skin types. It is a great daytime colour and looks very natural. What I like about it is that it leaves a lovely moisture locking colour to your lips which helps define the line between 'i'm not wearing foundation on my lips I promise!' and 'just another nude lipstick' Being blonde, I have to be careful which nude lipsticks I buy as some make me look a little silly, with somewhat pale skin and really bright blonde hair. I like to match this lip colour with a bold eye, as if I am not trying to draw attention to my lips, then I need to draw it to another feature. For a daytime look I would wear a smokey neautral eye, adding in for example MAC Naked Lunch and MAC Satin Taupe, as this gives some definition but not too OTT for the daytime, and for and evening look, you could either go for a high fashion look or a simple smokey eye with defined lashes.

Brighton Rock even though it doesn't look it so much in the photo, is a really bright pink. Think Nicki Minaj. I personally have tried to make myself like this colour on me, but I just don't  feel like it has the right undertones for my skin colour, and instead of complimenting my skin colour it does the total opposite. Never mind. However I won't put a downer on it as it is a lovely colour. Once again I would personally avoid it if your skin colour isn't warm. However if you do have a warm skin colour, knock yourself out with this as it really will provide a feature to your makeup look and really be a show stopper!
